GRANDMA HART

Carolyn Joyce Stangl was born on January 1st, 1927 in Coon Rapids, IA.  She is the

oldest of 4 children.  Grandma Hart's first job was picking strawberries from a field for 25 cents per day.

She met my grandfather, William Charles Hart, when he moved to Coon Rapids in the 8th grade.

They were completely in love with each other from that day on.  After school, my grandfather joined the army.  When he returned, he and my grandmother married on her 19th birthday in 1946.

They later had 5 children together.  In 1983 my grandmother lost my grandfather to cancer.

In 1984, she and her youngest daughter, my mother, moved to West Branch

where she continued to touch many lives and enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow.

In 2000, Grandma moved back to her hometown of Coon Rapids to care for her younger sister.

She later moved to Fort Dodge with her oldest daughter in 2007.

Grandma Hart passed away peacefully in her home on January 7th, 2018.

She was 91 years old.

Her last selfless act of kindness was to donate her body

to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for medical research.

"Dad and I had so many things planned. My only regret is that it didn't last long enough.

We had so many things planned. So my advice to you, do not put off tomorrow what you want to do today,

enjoy the life you have, count your blessings once in awhile, give lots of hugs, pats on the back for good jobs,

count to 10 before you criticize, and give lots of love.... it will come back to you.

"
